Brussels Challenge Major Edition Poster

Brussels Challenge Major returned on the weekend of May 17th to 18th for its 2025 edition, with 465 players in attendance across the eight major tournament titles for the weekend – Street Fighter 6, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, The King of Fighters XV, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Guilty Gear STRIVE and Samurai Showdown. Many UK players travelled to the event, with some reaching the Top 8 portion of the bracket.

Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 was the largest of the eight games at Brussels Challenge Major with 152 entrants. Four notable players from the UK entered the Street Fighter tournament; EndingWalker, Problem X, Imstilldadaddy and Suleymon.

EndingWalker would place the highest of the four UK players, finishing in 5th place and being the only one of the four to reach a single digit placement. Imstilldadaddy finished in 25th, Suleymon in 33rd and Problem X placed in 49th.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

The Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves bracket saw the second most entrants of the Brussels Challenge Major, with 110 competitors fighting it out for a prize pool of $17,100, with some UK players in attendance with UK commentators C4IQ and Lazarus appearing as broadcast talent.

Imstilldadaddy also entered City of the Wolves, being the highest placing UK player, finishing in a respectable 17th place. Two other UK players also made high placements, with MysticSmash in 25th and KingQuaka in 33rd.

Tekken 8

Tekken 8 had the third most highest entrants, with 102 participants, for the Brussels Challenge Major and was one of the more successful brackets for the UK players involved – seeing two of the UK’s best reach the Top 8 bracket.

Gosain and Kaneandtrench would be the two UK players to reach the Top 8 bracket, where they would go head to head in the Winner’s Semifinal. Gosain would come out the victor in the duel, and both players would eventually be knocked out of the bracket by US player Shadow 20z. Gosain would finish in 3rd, with Kaneandtrench in 4th. Other UK players in the bracket consisted of JoKa finishing in 9th, Keebe Omega in 13th and Asim in 25th.

Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 was one of the smaller brackets of Brussels Challenge Major, with 42 entrants. UK player VideoGamezYo managed to achieve a 4th place finish, the highest placing of any UK player in the Mortal Kombat tournament, with Imstilldadaddy achieving another 17th place finish for the weekend.

The King of Fighters XV

The King of Fighters XV had 33 entrants with InfernoKong being the standout player for the UK in this bracket, just barely missing out on a Top 8 spot – finishing in 9th place.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising

The Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising bracket had 32 participants, with the broadcast team made entirely of UK talent including C41Q, Lazarus and Serrt. Two UK also made it to the Top 8 bracket, with Dudeakoff and releasebogus sharing the 5th place position at the event.
