A brand new charity initiative has been announced – Play it Forward. Announced by Smash Ultimate Tournament Organiser and Commentator Sam ‘Sma’ Kenealy. The initiative aims to raise money for mental health charities through hosting online tournamnets for games such Smash Ultimate, Rivals of Aether 2, TEKKEN 8, 2XKO and more.

Each tournament will be held on a different week with prizes awarded to winners. Entry for each tournament will be £5 with 100% of the entry fee being donated to charity. Tournaments will be open to everyone in the UK, with the possibility of allowing in EU players too.

Some of the charities that will receive the donations are PAPYRUS, a charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide and The Matt Palmer Trust, a charity with the goal of supporting mental well-being within the UK and Ireland.

The goal of Play it Forward is simple – to try and raise as much money for mental health charities as possible.

Additional smaller tournaments will also occur for non-fighting game related titles such as Pokemon Legends ZA and Sonic Crossworlds Racing. These events will be smaller, include various challenges and also a lower entry fee at £2

The initiative is still under production, with announcements for the first event to be made soon.
